My experience with medical technology and rehabilitation has shaped my interest in biomedical hardware. Through hands-on projects such as wearable monitors and assistive devices, I use Arduino-based systems, sensors, motors, and 3D modeling to translate designs into functional prototypes.

WORK

What

Contributed to a lab-wide effort to design and build a microfluidic lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulator, focusing on the chip clamping mechanism and pressure manifold.

Why

To support LNP research on brain tumour identification and treatment, which requires precise, repeatable mixing of lipid and RNA solutions.

How
  • Designed the clamping mechanism and pressure manifold for the chip interface in Fusion 360, including the inlet, plate, collar, and handle assembly (dual O-ring-sealed inlets, angled collar channels, and guide pins for alignment).
  • Contributed to the mechanical actuation and control logic for the pre-filling and cleaning mechanism, as part of the team.
  • Rapidly iterated chip and component designs using LCD/DLP resin and FDM 3D printing.
Results
  • Improved formulation efficiency by eliminating alignment-related leaks and misruns, reducing wasted reagent and producing more consistent lipid–RNA mixing run-to-run.
