Designed a bio-inspired mechanical puzzle based on the motion and structure of the Star-Nosed Mole, integrating functional mechanisms with user-centred form. Created part and assembly models, refining motion, tolerances, clearances, and fit to ensure reliable mechanical performance. Iterated 3D-printed prototypes, testing and optimized string-driven petal mechanisms to reduce binding, improve synchronization, and enhance usability. Applied scaling, tolerance adjustments, and print orientation for manufacturability while collaborating cross-functionally to translate concepts into functional components.
Refine reliability, explore materials, and paint the puzzle to reveal a Trillium flower when it opens.
